Book review request policy
I'm sorry. For the foreseeable future I will be limiting reviews to authors whose work I've previously reviewed, for author launch teams with which I'm involved, and works obtained through Goodreads or LibraryThing.
Need reviews? I will provide a FREE honest review for 4-6 fiction books each month from only the following genre: mystery, crime, science fiction/fantasy. Reviews are always FREE!
No romance, young adult, religious or erotica will be accepted. As a lifelong reader I do not care for serial series books; I will accept them, but I will review them based on my satisfaction with only the story contained in the volume I review.
Providing the information for your book does not mean it is accepted for review. When I chose your book to review, I will email you and request a copy for review. I can accept PDF, MOBI, EPUB or print. MOBI or PDF is preferred. I do not purchase books, so plan to gift through Amazon or Smashwords, or to provide MOBI or PDF files directly. I will try to notifiy you by email if your book is not accepted for review but because of time limitations cannot ensure such notification.
Reviews will be posted on your choice of Amazon or Smashwords, Goodreads and Library Thing, Barnes & Noble and/or Kobo. In addition, I will post the reviews on this site, on my Tumblr site and my Pinterest Blog Review Board. My reviews also appear in the Midwest Book Review Reviewer's Bookshelf, Polk's Bookshelf, during the following month.
I also offer author interviews particularly where more than one one book is promoted.
Paid services include Tweeting a one day series of four announcements with links to new reviews and interviews, and one posting of an announcement and link to new interviews to Facebook and Google Plus book promotion groups of which I am a member...currently 100 plus. Posting social media announcements is $9.95 for Twitter and $29.95 for Facebook/Google Plus. All payment for social media promotion is through PayPal.
Please contact me by using the Book Review Request Form below providing all the requested information. This information is passed to the Midwest Book Review to ensure that libraries have the necessary information to support purchase orders.
Guest Blog Requests
Because this site is open to readers of all ages, we have to follow some rules. These rules apply to guest blogs, and to any books or materials discussed in a post. Therefore, no erotica, pornography, gratuitous profanity, religious books or messages as well as anything negative, detrimental, derogatory or prejudicial toward any ethnic or social group, race, religion or organization of any kind or toward any other author, writer, or other artists or their works will be allowed. While I personally do not review romance, youth or young adult books, I will accept guest blog pieces from their authors for promotion purposes as long as the proposed post is consistent with the other rules.
Guidelines for Reviewers
We're going to keep this as simple as possible.
- No negative comments. This is a positive website and we want positive experiences for everyone.
-It should be stated whether the book was provided free for honest review by the author or obtained in some other manner by the reviewer.
-We use a five star rating approach as follows: 5-Star is a great story, entertaining, and without distracting editing and typo errors. 4-Star is a good story, well told, with few editing and typo errors. 3-Stars is an average story, generally well told, but could use better editing and proofreading. If a review is below 3-Stars it will not be published and will be sent to the author privately.
-The reviewers word is law on a review. Reviews will not be changed.
-If a reviewers feels he or she cannot read and/or review a book, he or she should return it to me for re-assignment to someone else or for a decline to review.
-Neither profanity nor disrespect for any person, group of people, religious or ethic group or their cultures or beliefs will be tolerated.
-We will review novels based on religious texts, and novels where religious practice and beliefs are essential to the novel and the purpose is to entertain but we will not review religious writings of an educational, persuasive or non-fictional nature.
